Cliffbanger: Musical Improv… That Hits!

Chapel Theatre, Milwaukie
Saturday, February 14th @7:30pm

This Valentine’s Day, Bridge City is excited to present Cliffbanger, musical improv like you’ve never seen—raw, unpredictable, and unapologetically fun. No scripted storylines, no predictable arcs—just razor-sharp comedy, top-tier musicianship, and on-the-spot songs that make you laugh til your stomach hurts.  They take what’s funny, crank it up to 11, and let the music drive it home. Unpredictable, high-energy, and unlike anything else in Portland—this is musical improv with teeth. We’ll close it out with Bridge City founders Beau & Lisa Brousseau joining the stage for a shorter improvised set also inspired by your suggestions. It’s gonna be a good time. Join us!

SAY WHAT?

I always enjoy playing with Bridge City Improv. They curate fantastic, dynamic line-ups featuring some of the most talented improvisers in town. They create stories and characters with great intention, skill, and joy. As a performer, I feel a sense of community at Bridge City Improv shows, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play with such a welcoming and supportive group of improvisers.

— Katie Nguyen, Portland Mercury Geniuses of Comedy, Willamette Week’s Funniest Five

Beau and Lisa are two of the most vibrant and experienced improvisers in Portland. They are bold, physical, and never afraid to run headfirst into a scene to chase what they find fun. When the Brousseaus are on stage, you can’t help but get sucked into the world and characters they bring to life so effortlessly. They are as much a treat to watch as they are to perform with.

— Dylan Reiff, Kickstand Comedy

I hired Bridge City Improv to prank my friends and family at our post-wedding party of 100+ people, and I was amazed! We worked together to curate a character as my mom’s local handyman, how it would play out, who would be in on it, and how the reveal would go down. It was amazing to see him mingle, working the crowd to create funny little memories for everyone, all leading up to a hilarious toast when we let the secret out. I totally scored with Bridge City Improv.

— Andrew Barr, client/customer

Bridge City Improv brings together combinations of some of the finest Portland improvisers to create performances that are smart, funny, unpredictable, and joyous. They’re not afraid to address the human condition head on, but also are not afraid to just get completely silly.

— Barbara Scott, founding member of BATS Improv, San Francisco

Thank you for a fantastic night of long-form improvised theater…. Bridge City’s shows will always give you a great night out and what improv can and should be…. You can expect a top-quality performance drawing from a large and experienced talent pool. I’ve seen a LOT of improv in the Portland area and Bridge City productions are the cream of the crop.

— Tom Johnson, Brody Theater

Bridge City Improv is run by veteran Portland improvisers Beau and Lisa Brousseau.
